Like previous years the Chilly Duathlon attracted a strong field across both male and female races, with draft legal racing on the flat and fast Castle Combe circuit, acting also as the age-group qualifier for the 2027 European Champs Sprint distance duathlon.

The first run in the men’s race saw junior athletes lead the way with Tom Webb and Niclas Olley leading the first 5k into T1 in 15.25, followed in behind by duo James Vaughan (20-24) of Western Tempo and William Pridden of Bath Tri, in 15.52.

With 20.5k around 7 laps of the Castle Combe circuit in a draft legal field, Niclas Olley looked to pull away in the men’s race with the fastest bike split by over a minute in 30.38, to back up a fast first run. Behind Tom Webb maintained his position of 2nd during the bike into the final run, but with both on even splits for the 3km final run, Niclas Olley (U20) racing for South West Academy / Southampton Triathlon Club took the overall win, after leading or being at the front across the whole race. Tom Webb (U20) took 2nd overall, followed behind by William Pridden.

In the women’s race Indiana Franklin (U20) led into T1 with 18.48 for the 5k, with Isabel Guirdham (20-24) following in just a few seconds behind with Laura Allen (Vet 40).

With close racing on the bike from Franklin and Guirdham taking the 7 laps in little over 35mins, they entered T2 nearing a 2minute advantage. Youth athlete Indiana Franklin then took the lead and the fastest final run split, to win the women’s race overall as the youngest athlete in the field. Isabel Guirdham racing for University of Bath claimed 2nd, 30s behind, with Eloise Foster taking 3rd after the fastest individual final run split.

DB Max Timing put on a great event attracting close to 150 athletes across both open and female categories.
